It is laid out on terrain dotted with pine trees and sand dunes, with the last few holes looking very much like a typical English course, surrounded by dunes and pine woods.

The course is long and very demanding. The greens are very wide, with several blind hazards and 90 bunkers. El Saler is considered to be one of the purest European-style courses. Access to the hole is relatively short; the rhythm of the game is slow.
