The golf course was designed by British architect F.W. Hawtree and belongs to a prestigious range in golf course design, including a number of recognized courses of great reputation that have hosted major events such as the Royal Liverpool and the Carnoustie Golf Clubs. The golf course was later expanded with designs by the Spaniards Ramon Espinosa, Magí Sardà and Alfonso Vidaor.
